Insights from the ��㣨Leyu�� government digital pulse survey report 2024

In an era of constant change and growing constituent expectations and demands, leveraging technology can be the key to delivering efficient and effective public services. To help government leaders keep up with the relentless pace of innovation, ��㣨Leyu�� conducted a survey of federal and state government decision-makers and influencers about their planning, challenges, and goals for technology transformation.

In this report, ��㣨Leyu�� government advisory professionals review the results and share their insights to help agency leaders understand the forces that are driving innovation in government. We look at the technology advances government leaders are making, their priorities, the challenges they face, and the opportunities that lie before them using technology to empower their workforce and improve constituent experience.

Key stats at a glance

The most surprising finding from the survey was that a substantial majority of respondents��57 percent—said that new technologies in their agencies have had little or no impact on their daily work and productivity.

62%

Sixty-two percent of respondents said they have already implemented a cloud solution, and nearly two-thirds said they were extremely or very prepared to implement cloud technologies.

68%

Sixty-eight percent said generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) was in their top three areas of current focus.

14%

Only 14 percent said they had already implemented GenAI, but 60 percent said they will likely implement in the next one-to-three years.

64%

Sixty-four percent say cost or funding availability is the top barrier to technology implementation—nearly twice the number of the next item on the list.

27%

Data or security concerns were not perceived to be a leading barrier by the majority of respondents—only 27 percent included it in their top three.
