India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, presented the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 on 1 February 2025.1
Budget measures impacting individuals include unchanged income tax rates and slabs under the optional (old tax) regime, introduction of new tax rates, adjusted income thresholds for the rebate, and enhanced income for the maximum tax rate under the default new tax regime. Below we highlight these and other key features in terms of the direct tax measures affecting individuals and their employers.Â
