A Merchant Shipping Notice was issued on the 3 April informing all those concerned that a new publication for maritime security guidance for ships and seafarers operating off the cost of West Africa and the Gulf of Guinea was published.

This new publication replaces the previous guidelines which were applicable for the area.

The intention of the publication is to assist ships in planning their voyages and detect, avoid, deter, delay and report attacks.
